Terrebonne Lavender donates a percentage of its revenue to the Firmina Foundation.

The Firmina Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded on the belief that empowerment begins with education.

The Firmina Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of children living in the developing world. Our mission is to support giving children from the poorest communities access to quality education, so that they have an opportunity to learn and can work towards a brighter future.

Why The Firmina Foundation?

Barbara, co-owner of Terrebonne Lavender has had the good fortune to know and to work with Rukshana Triem (Shana) over the last 10 years. Her story is a remarkable one, but not uncommon for so many in Africa, who live in poverty, escape wars, and lack education. So when Shana shared her vision of creating a nonprofit, for the purpose of educating children in the poorest villages from her homeland, as a former High School Teacher, Barbara was drawn in.

Barbara also is also serving on the board of the Fermina Foundation, and has traveled to the village of Tengua, Mozambique.

“As promised, we built a brand-new school within a year and on budget. Where there was once bare land there is now a school for learning. But there is still a need as we continue to provide for a library, books/supplies and desks.”
